What Should I Go See?

Friends, I am making two journeys to Europe
in the next year. One trip will include Germany,
Holland, Belgium and Denmark. The other trip
will include Italy, Switzerland and France.

For those of you living in Europe and those
of you who know Europe like the back of your
hand,  what are the "must see" places - full
sized or miniature - that you would recommend
I go and see?

The last thing I want to do is to get home and
then discover that I was only X miles away from
some amazing place and didn't even know it
existed! I truly appreciate your input on this!
Thanks!

  1. It sounds really exciting. I live in Denmark, in the capital, Copenhagen. I would have to think about what I would recommend. Feel free to write to me on my mail address. I would also like to offer a dinner, if you would be intrested.

  2. In Italy, I LOVED the Cinque Terre. It's five Medieval towns perched on the cliffs of the Mediterranean Sea, which you can hike from town to town on a precarious path. It's so cool! In France, I loved the Alsace region in October. The little wine towns are so adorable. Just Google Alsace Wine Route. Hope you have a great trip(s)!

  3. Well, since you are going to Germany you will be just a few miles awy from a beautiful country of mine, Poland. :) We do have quite a lot interesting places to see, some of them are also on UNESCO's lists. ;)
If some day you will be interested in visiting my country I will be more than happy to tell you where to go and what to see. :)
    Big hug

  4. Hello George,
I have been to Paris and Italy. My favorite building in the world is Notre-Dame cathedral. It is an experience and if you can I suggest climbing to the top of the bell tower. It is over 400 steps and well worth it. another amazing stop is the Cimetiere du Pere Lachaise. it is the most amazing cemetery. The monuments and tombs are incredible and it feels like a village. sounds odd but worth it.
As for Italy, I am in love with Florence, Naples and Cagliari.
Let us know which cities you stop in and we can give you better info on what to see.
    big hug,
    Giac

  5. Hi George, if you are in the Netherlands, a visit to the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague for their beautiful antique doll houses and lots of Dutch masters. This is also where the Houses of Parliament are and the recently reopened Mauritshuis, which has the Girl with the Pearl Earring by Vermeer in their collection. Or in Amsterdam the recently reopened Rijksmuseum, which takes more than one visit to do justice, also has antique doll houses. Or if you want to combine nature and culture, a visit to De Hoge Veluwe, where you can borrow bicycles. There are lovely cycle paths and it's almost flat. In the Hoge Veluwe park is also the Kroller Muller museum with the world famous Van Gogh collection.

Hope you have a fabulous trip!
